Cozumel is an island situated off the Yucatan Penninsula in the warm carribbean waters.
We visited in July for an intensive 8 night/7 day vacation.Flying from San Francisco late friday night to Los Angeles - connecting to Houston - arriving early am - then on to Cozumel arriving around 1pm. I took the local taxi to Scuba Club Cozumel and checked in to our room, minus one piece of luggage which we never did receive!
We stayed at the Scuba Club Cozumel. The 3 dives/day had a more relaxed start time usually from 8:30 to 9:00 am with nice large boats and not too crowded on board. We were back for lunch and then after about 45 mins off for the afternoon dive. All our meals were included and they were very good....breakfast buffet, lunch from a set menu and a changing dinner menu to pick from. The rooms were a little small, but we rarely were in them...if not diving or snoozing in a hammock, we would walk to town to see the sights. Visit this link for a map of Cozumel.
The dives were all drift dives with a divemaster guiding us and the nicest ones were:
The guides seemed a bit bored.....some floating on their backs blowing bubbles while they made sure the groups stayed together...usually 6 divers in a group flaoting through the clear, warm water.
If the boat dives were not enough there were unlimited shore dives to be made from the front of the resort. The current was mild and you could make large circles so you would not end up floating past downtown. We booked a dive package to get the best value.
Problems we encountered ;
